VERIFICATION
Verification is the process where a manager, supervisor or trainer signs off that a trainee can consistently complete required tasks, within the workplace.
By becoming a Workplace Verifier you will learn about the National Qualifications Framework, acquire new skills and enhance your career pathway.
The verifier is in the best position to support, observe and assess the trainee on a day-to-day basis as they work through the training towards achieving a unit standard (s). The verifier helps the assessor judge a trainee's competence.
Who can be a verifier?
A verifier may be a:
- Manager, supervisor, trainer, assessor
- Modern Apprenticeship Coordinator, Retail Institute Training Adviser
- Someone who regularly observes you in your normal working environment.
- The verifier must have relevant subject knowledge and understand the requirements of the unit they are verifying.
A verifier may not be a work peer, friend or family member.
What does the verifier do?
Each unit standard or module has a dedicated assessment. The verifier will be asked to observe the trainee performing normal work tasks as set down in the assessment form. The verifier may be required to ask the trainee some verbal questions and write their answers on the assessment. The verifier will be asked to confirm that this is the trainee's own work. The trainee may have completed some written questions prior to the observation.
Once completed, the verifier will then need to sign off that the trainee has performed these tasks.
