How it works?

The Retail Modern Apprenticeship programme should take approximately three years to complete. In includes two National Certificates, two transferable (lifelong) skills modules and part of the management qualification, The National Certificate in Retail Level 4. The ‘transferable skills' modules can be completed at any stage of the Modern Apprenticeship, but they probably fit best between the level 2 and 3 qualifications. Transferable skills relate to learning that will benefit the apprentice throughout their life, in both their work and private life.

Learners achieve:

  • Managing Yourself: This module will develop skills and techniques that will help the apprentice in their job and personal life, now and in the future.
  • National Certificate in Retail Level 2: This qualification focuses on tasks common to all retailers. The qualification provides a broad overview of the retail environment.
  • Managing Infromation: This module will develop skills and techniques that will help the apprentice manage information - where to find it and how to use it. This module also covers writing in plain English.
  • National Certificate in Retail Level 3: This qualification is recognised as the supervisory level certificate for the retail industry.
  • Training and Assessment in the Workplace: This programme is the first module in the National Certificate in Retail Level 4. Training and Assessment in the Workplace provides apprentices with the skills they need to become trainers and assessors - in their workplace.
