CONSENT TO ASSESS

In New Zealand, courses or qualifications are offered by a wide range of education providers. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority deals with the provision and quality of qualifications, including consent to assess

As an Organisation with Consent to Assess, the Retail Institute supplies the New Zealand Qualifications Authority with details of its quality management systems. Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) are part of these quality management systems.

Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)

The CMR (0334) Version 4 was registered with New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) in September 2011.

CMR relate to industry- or sector-specific requirements for the consent to assess of organisations to deliver programmes and/or assess against Assessment Standards in the scope of the CMR.

Every assessment standard registered on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework states the number of its applicable CMR. The CMR provides details to education providers of the consent to assess requirements for each Assessment Standard and, to assessors, the moderation requirements to ensure assessment quality and consistency.

THE RETAIL INSTITUTE'S CMR

The Retail Institute's moderation procedures are governed by CMR (0034). Any concerns regarding the CMR received by the Retail Institute are immediately addressed by the Quality Assurance Manager in consultation with NZQA.

HOW DOES A TRAINING PROVIDER GAIN CONSENT TO ASSESS?

NZQA is responsible for granting consent to assess for assessment standards. For NZQA to do this the application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the Standard Setting Body (SSB).

The Retail Institute is the SSB for approximately 150 assessment standards on the NQF. If a provider wishes to gain consent to assess for Retail Institute assessment standards, their application needs to include a letter of recommendation from the Retail Institute. A letter of recommendation means that the provider has met the requirements of Retail Institute's industry- specific criteria.

If you wish to apply for consent to assess for Retail Institute assessment standards please complete the Retail Institute Consent to Assess Application form and send it to the Retail Institute, with the required evidence.
