HOW TRAINING HAS HELPED ME

Check out our latest videos from young people taking advantage of retail training opportunities:

Curtis, Mitre 10 Mega

David Adkins

Curtis is currently working towards the management level certificate, The National Certificate in Retail Level 4. He has also completed the Level 2 and 3 certificates.

Curtis believes the qualifications have helped him become more knowledgeable and organised, and boosted his confidence. They have allowed him to develop systems and processes within his area at Mitre 10 Mega.

Nikolas Kissel, New Zealand Rockshop:

David AdkinsNikolas is currently working towards the Retail Modern Apprenticeship. He has just been named Retail Modern Apprentice of the Year for 2008. "Winning the Retail Modern Apprenticeship is a big honour and proves to myself and other retailers, that hard work pays off and is recognised," he says.

Nikolas sees a bright future for himself in the retail industry as he strives to be the branch manager at the Christchurch Rockshop. "This is my goal and I am working towards it. The apprenticeship has given me the skills and certificates I need to move higher in my job," he says.

"I have learnt a much more in-depth approach to retail and, customer satisfaction and gained a large amount of knowledge on how to better myself in my job, my responsibilities and in keeping customers happy consistently."
