THE PROCESS

We have a number of programmes available to suit all levels of retailing and distribution. The first step is to contact the Retail Institute so a Training Adviser can visit your workplace to discuss what training programme best suits you and your employee(s): 0800 486 738.

Then:

  1. Your store registers as a Retail Institute Registered Training Workplace
  2. Your employees enrol in a programme by filling out the Training Agreement (under related resources opposite).
  3. Your employees complete a Pre-training Literacy Snapshot.
  4. Your employees work through the training material with a mentor or workplace trainer.
  5. Your employees complete the assessment and have it verified by a nominated person in your workplace.
  6. Your employees complete a Post-training Literacy Snapshot to identify the progress they have made as a result of their training.
  7. Your employees send their completed assessment and any evidence required in to the Retail Institute.
  8. If the work has met the requirements they will be awarded the qualification.
  9. If not, the Retail Institute assessor will tell them what they need to do to become qualified; they have two more chances for reassessment.
  10. Once qualified, you and your employees can talk to a Retail Institute Training Adviser about further training opportunities.
